My first memory of writing was in the fall of Miss Wetzel’s first-grade class. I joyfully labored over every word as I told the story of my summer adventures, which included an attempt at a fancy gymnastics maneuver on the monkey bars.

Spoiler alert: I failed. And I broke my arm in the attempt.

But what I realized — though not consciously as a six-year-old — is that I’d found a passion. Writing.

Since then, I have found solace in taking pen to paper, to sitting on my laptop tapping away and have been fortunate that even in the depths of a serious case of writers’ block, I manage to find just the right word, the right phrase, the exact sentiment to convey what I (or a client) is thinking, feeling or trying to communicate.

And I’ve been able to expand my writing to a successful communications career.

For more than 15 years, I’ve worked with all kinds of organizations and filled all kinds of communications-related roles – from serving as a publicist for commercial real estate clients, to overseeing all communications, writing and PR for the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine, to working in an agency setting and managing not only clients’ internal and external communications needs, but also working to fulfill the agency’s needs, as well.

I have written more communications strategies than I can count. I’m a pro at starting with nothing and creating a full-blown, year-long editorial calendar to help clients and organizations manage their content proactively without getting overwhelmed. I’ve helped C-level executives think through their change management plans with a lens on employee communications. A few other key skills I offer:

  • Strategic communications planning and implementation

  • Executive communications

  • Internal communications

  • Script and speechwriting

  • Social media management

  • Writing, proofreading and editing

  • Project management

  • Content development

But I’m more than my job.

I believe in giving back and advocating for worthy causes. I believe in living a healthy lifestyle. I believe in a good cup of tea. In living simply and traveling widely, personal growth and responsibility. I believe in listening. I believe in humor, love and collaboration.

When I’m not working, I’m likely doing something that makes me feel connected to the human experience or to nature, whether it’s attending a dance or arts performance, wandering around an open-air market, taking a walk in the woods or paddling in the ocean and quietly observing the underwater world.
